Meal Campaign

Life for displaced Syrians is filled with deprivation and hardship, as they lack the basic necessities to sustain their lives: livelihood, shelter, food, clothing, healthcare, and hygiene items. These good people deserve respite from the conflict and shortages they experience daily, especially the children, most of whom have known only fear, homelessness and hunger throughout their short lives.

MFA is acutely aware that malnutrition is a major public health concern in Syria today. This is especially true for the 130,000 children under five years of age in northwest Syria who are particularly at risk of malnutrition and its potential irreversible impairment of cognitive and physical development. Rates also are increasing in maternal malnutrition with pregnant and lactating mothers.

MFA already has delivered thousands of meals along with essential humanitarian aid to the northwest regions to fill the gaps in hunger and scarcity. By supporting MFA you enable us to continue our urgent efforts to provide meals to Syrian families living in displacement, and you will be helping to save lives and preserve health and dignity.

Despite the conditions and uncertainties they face, Syrians have proven themselves to be resilient, possessing strength that propels them forward each and every day, motivated by the hope that help will come to give them the opportunity to rebuild their lives and their communities.

Emergency Tent Campaign

Due to unceasing aerial attacks in early December, a million more people were forced from their homes in northwest Syria, joining the more than 2.3 million who were already displaced in that region.

To respond to this emergency, MFA has been building tent camps to shelter this population. To date, 700 tents have been erected and hundreds more are planned. Your donation of $300 provides a tent for two families, along with a month’s ration of food, basic hygiene supplies, and a water purification kit for a year of clean water.

COVID-19 Campaign

There are more than three million displaced people in northwest Syria. With the healthcare infrastructure deliberately decimated by the Assad Regime and COVID-19 spreading rapidly, this vulnerable population is at great risk of illness and fatalities, especially without any means of social distancing.

MFA has been shipping massive amounts of medicines and medical supplies and equipment, along with its regular humanitarian aid deliveries to the region, but urgent help is needed to prevent a rampant outbreak.

MFA Spokesperson, F. Murray Abraham

Renowned actor, F. Murray Abraham, has been MFA’s steadfast supporter and outspoken Ambassador since 2016, when he first met with a joint congressional group to advocate for Syrian refugees. At every opportunity, Abraham uses his celebrity as an Oscar-winning, lauded stage, screen and television actor to dispel mis/disinformation about the Syrian people, and promote programs that underscore their strength, resilience and contributions to the societies in which they settle.

Abraham’s father was a young boy when he came to the United States with his family to escape famine in Syria. He notes with pride the unfaltering gratitude instilled in him for the country that gave them refuge. This, and his abiding spiritual beliefs, and faith in his fellow-man, has led Abraham to the Multifaith Alliance for Syrian Refugees. He says: “The Multifaith Alliance is really what America is about: a united people -- Arabs, Buddhists, Christians, Hindus, Jews, Muslims and secular groups -- coming together to do the right thing.” Abraham has made a commitment to be the human face, and to speak on behalf of the millions of Syrian refugees trapped in the worst humanitarian crisis of our time.

Most recently, Abraham underwrote four 40 foot shipping containers filled with emergency aid valued at $4,568,146. “The return is not just a staggering 182 times of investment”, said Abraham, “it’s the more than 12,000 people -- the mothers, fathers and children who have one less day of hardship, hunger and thirst. Those images fuel me to speak out, step up and do more. I urge you to join me in supporting MFA’s extraordinary work. Giving and caring for others in need, is one of the greatest rewards you’ll ever get!”
