“Aid keeps a family going. A livelihood keeps a community standing.”

— Multifaith Alliance

About This Campaign

In every community where MFA works—from Gaza's reconstruction to Syria's returning families to Ukraine's frontline towns—recovery depends on shopkeepers, farmers, bakers, and tradespeople: the small enterprises that anchor local economies and provide most of the employment.

Aid keeps families alive; livelihoods keep communities standing. Yet these businesses face broken banking systems, poor market growth, and severed supply lines.

MFA is raising an economic recovery fund to rebuild that connection to livelihoods, including fair community-based lending, infrastructure for small businesses, and market linkages that enable local economies to sustain themselves.

Our Approach

The fund embeds economic recovery within the community relationships MFA has built over more than a decade of operating in conflict-affected environments.

Core Pillars of the Recovery Fund:

  • Community-based lending: Provides working capital and growth loans sized to support cash cycles, prioritizing women-led businesses and returning entrepreneurs, with loan officers recruited from the communities they serve.
  • Productive infrastructure: Connects small businesses to the essentials of operation, such as equipment, energy systems, and communications support that turn a loan into a livelihood.
  • Market creation: Puts MFA's access and logistics platform to work for local economies, linking credible suppliers and technologies to communities where delivery constraints, not demand, are the barrier.
  • Community ownership: Anchors everything—locally run, locally accountable, and designed to outlast any single funding cycle.

Impact & Results

We anticipate that loan repayments will replenish a revolving fund, so each dollar is lent again in a structure designed to achieve self-sufficiency. Because the fund pairs capital with power, equipment, and market access, each business it supports strengthens the local economy around it.

How You Can Help

This fund does not exist yet, and your donation helps create it. Every contribution becomes founding capital for lending, productive infrastructure, and market connections: a permanent community asset rather than a one-time gift.
