Gaza background

Gaza

About 90 percent of people in Gaza need humanitarian support. Aid delivery remains extremely challenging, yet MFA’s work has continued through trusted networks.

MFA's Response in Gaza

MFA’s response in Gaza is grounded in one principle: humanitarian aid works best when it is built on trust, partnership, and local leadership. Our model relies on community networks, rapid and secure delivery by accredited MFA field staff, coordinated work with authorities and peer organizations, and full transparency to the people we serve. This approach is what allows MFA to deliver where others cannot. Since September 2024, MFA has been one of the few certified organizations able to safely procure, transport, and deliver aid across both northern and southern Gaza, managing the entire process—from sourcing to border negotiation to last-mile distribution—while working closely with local responders who know their communities best.

As a result, MFA has delivered essential support directly to more than 100,000 vulnerable families, including:

Hygiene items– Soap, disinfectants, shampoo, sanitary pads, toothpaste, wipes, diapers, and tissues.

Food – Rice, pasta, flour, canned provisions, oil, cheese, eggs, fruits, vegetables, sugar, and spices.

Winterization supplies – Clothing, shoes, tents, shelter kits, insulation materials, and greenhouse coverings.

Basic household materials – Plates, cups, cutlery, garbage bags, and cleaning products.

Expanding Access Under Extraordinary Constraints

When the crossings reopened in 2025, MFA rapidly reactivated field operations and began scaling deliveries across the region.

Since July 2025:

• MFA has been the only NGO outside of UN agencies delivering ready-to-eat food baskets directly into northern Gaza.

• MFA operates a secure warehouse where local staff receive, process, and dispatch aid quickly into surrounding communities.

• Our accredited teams move through areas where large convoys cannot, guided by community leaders and hyperlocal knowledge.

In southern Gaza:

• MFA supports the production of thousands of loaves of bread each day at the Abu Yousef Municipal Bakery.

• Our teams deliver this bread directly to displaced families, including those in Nuseirat Camp.

This work is possible because of MFA’s longstanding partnerships, local trust, and adaptability, the same qualities that allowed us to resume operations quickly when access opened.

What's Next?

MFA continues to identify and fill critical service gaps, a core part of our complementarity model, which prevents duplication and directs support to the households most often overlooked.

Our commitment is twofold:

  1. Immediate relief: Deliver food, hygiene items, and winter supplies safely and directly to families.
  2. Long-term stability: Through MFA’s recovery fund, support post-war rehabilitation, community livelihoods, and the restoration of essential services.

Since July 2025, MFA has expanded deliveries through newly accessible border points and increased the scale of distributions in both northern and southern Gaza. Our goal remains constant:

Deliver with dignity. Deliver with trust. Deliver where others cannot.
