Project Overview: Emergency Therapeutic Nutrition
Severe food blockades and the destruction of agricultural systems pushed hundreds of thousands of infants, children, and pregnant mothers across Gaza to the brink of severe acute malnutrition (SAM) and irreversible stunting.
Our specialized medical nutrition teams successfully treated and saved over 1,800 infants suffering from acute malnutrition and provided high-potency prenatal vitamins and therapeutic protein supplements to 950 pregnant and nursing mothers.
Delivered Nutritional Deliverables
Specialized Therapeutic Components:
- Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF): High-density fortified peanut paste (Plumpy'Nut) for rapid treatment of acute wasting in infants.
- Maternal Micronutrient Supplements: Prenatal multivitamins, iron-folic acid, and calcium preventing maternal anemia and complications.
- Therapeutic Infant Milk Formulas: Specialized F-75 and F-100 formulas for hospitalized infants with severe complications.
- Field Growth Monitoring & MUAC Screenings: Mid-upper arm circumference tracking and clinical evaluations ensuring complete recovery.
