Project Video

About This Project

Rehabilitating war-damaged houses in rural Aleppo through local committees, installing doors, windows, solar power, and water systems to return displaced families home.

“When a family can return home, a neighborhood — and a community — begin to recover.”

Project Overview: Restoring Safe Shelter

Return is the foundation of Syria's recovery, and housing is the foundation of return. Without a livable home, returnees remain in limbo, unable to re-enter the workforce, enroll children in school, or reinvest in their community.

MFA rehabilitates war-damaged houses through local contractors and community committees, executing critical repairs in managed phases of 20–26 homes at a time to ensure high quality and rigorous standards.

Assessments prioritize families currently living in tents or severely damaged shelters. Every completed home and returning family helps revive normal neighborhood life, making return viable and sustainable for surrounding communities.

Scope of Rehabilitation Works

Key Operational Deliverables:

  • Structural Reinforcement: Plastering, concrete work, and masonry block work to make the structure safe, sturdy, and weathertight.
  • Carpentry & Fixtures: Installing secure doors and weatherproof PVC windows to restore privacy and security.
  • Electrical & Solar Systems: Installing wiring, lighting, sockets, and decentralized solar power for reliable, off-grid energy.
  • Water & Sanitation: Water tanks, taps, toilets, and indoor plumbing lines restoring hygienic, dignified living conditions.
