Syria Rebuilding Homes - June 2026

Dear Friends,

In Ratyan, Syria, the scars of war remain visible in many homes.

For families who have spent years displaced, returning home requires rebuilding the foundations of everyday life.

Many houses are still damaged, unsafe, or unlivable. Doors and windows need to be replaced. Walls need repair. Families need access to water, privacy, protection from the elements, and basic living conditions before they can safely return.

Without these repairs, return remains out of reach.

That is why home rehabilitation is an essential first step toward restoring stability, dignity, and a sense of normal life.

Through home reconstruction efforts, Multifaith Alliance is helping families regain a sense of normalcy.

Our local teams are working house by house, guided by local engineers and community leaders, to identify the most urgent repairs and help make homes safe and livable again.

The project includes 125 damaged homes across six planned phases. As of June 2026, 63 homes have been completed, representing just over half of the total project target.

Home reconstruction progress in Syria

Each household receives up to $2,000 in critical repairs, focused on the improvements families need most, including:

  • Replacing doors and windows to restore safety, privacy, and protection from the elements.
  • Painting and plastering walls to create clean, livable spaces.
  • Installing solar panels to provide sustainable energy for lighting and cooking.
  • Setting up water tanks and pumps to support reliable access to clean water.

So far, MFA has supported the return of more than 55 families, with plans to reach many more in the next phases of the project.

As one resident shared, after living in displacement for more than 10 years:

We thank Multifaith Alliance for rebuilding and repairing our home, installing the doors, and bringing us back from the camps

Every home rehabilitated helps close the chapter on displacement for an entire family.
Every step of reconstruction helps rebuild stability for the wider community.

This World Refugee Day, your gift helps MFA continue this work: repairing homes, supporting return, and helping families rebuild their lives with safety and dignity.

Thank you for standing with families in Syria as they return, rebuild, and begin again.

With gratitude,
Shadi Martini
