World Refugee Day - Multifaith Alliance

Dear Friends,

When people hear the word "refugee," they often imagine someone defined by loss.

But refugees are not a category. They are people.

They are doctors, teachers, engineers, shopkeepers, farmers, business owners, parents raising children, students planning for the future, neighbors, friends, and community leaders.

War, disaster, persecution, or violence forced them to leave behind homes, livelihoods, and the lives they had built. Yet even after displacement, they carry with them the skills, relationships, and determination that make recovery possible.

At Multifaith Alliance, we see this every day.

The most effective solutions begin with people who know their communities best: healthcare workers who understand what patients need, local leaders who know which families are struggling, and residents who refuse to give up on rebuilding their neighborhoods.

Our role is to listen and respond.

Whether restoring access to healthcare, helping families return home, supporting essential infrastructure, or delivering critical supplies, lasting recovery happens when communities have the resources they need to move forward on their own terms.

This World Refugee Day, we invite you to stand with people rebuilding their lives and strengthening their communities after a crisis.

Because displacement changes where people live. It does not change who they are.

Thank you for being part of that work.

With gratitude,
Shadi Martini
